Frankly, that’s not a good idea.  At least not without doing some research before writing a check or racking up yet another bill on your already stressed out credit card.  Now, make no mistake, there are lot of legitimate companies out there offering valid credit repair services.  Some will work on your behalf, while others will sell you a book or report on how you can do it yourself.  And many of these products and services are well worth the money.  But a lot of the times, those aren’t the companies behind the “Raise Credit Score Fast!!!” banner ads.

See, anytime there’s a big demand for a product that people are desperate for, less than savory characters see an opportunity to make a quick buck.  And in a nation that has seen over 1 million foreclosed homes this year, there are a lot of people who are desperate to fix their credit, and will pay a lot of money to do it.  The trick is to avoid the scammers, and stick with the good guys.  And even some of the scammers offer some good info, but it’s way overpriced.  Even if their product is decent, you’ll pay an arm and a leg for something you could’ve gotten a lot cheaper if you’d just done a little homework.  So don’t jump at the first “Raise Credit Score Fast!!!” ad you see.  Check it out, do some research and comparisons with other firms, and then go with the best value.
